I generally charge $550 – $750 for LP for unscheduled mastering projects. Its cost less for an EP. There is no fixed rate for mastering (unless its an attended session) because each project has different requirements. To begin with, you either drop off or upload your record to our server. When its uploaded, I take a listen and work on the first track. From this information I can then give you a more exact quote, and if you like what I’ve done so far we can move forward. This is great for both myself and the artists because we don’t feel rushed by the clock and can keep working on the record and fine tuning it until it sounds perfect. The general turn-around time for unscheduled mastering projects is between 1-3 weeks. This often depends on how quickly the artist gets back to me with final tweaks or changes. I’ve been working this way for years and it works really well.
I also do attended sessions or scheduled sessions where I charge a flat rate of $85/hr. This works out well if you have very specific adjustments you’d like made.
