Mastering
Audio Mastering is the final step in making a recording sound polished. A properly mastered recording will smooth out sonic irregularities, improve presence, and maximize volume consistently across an album. Often subtle EQ can clean up a muddy low end, add a sparkle, or to reduce piercing highs. Other tools such as compression and tube harmonics help to create that sonic “glue” to create a cohesive record. I just finished mastering a new record by “K.” , also know as Karla Schickele. It’s really well written and fun record. I’m not sure when its going to come out but be sure to have a listen when it does!
Cory Arcangel has a solo show at the Whitney Museum in New York. The show is called “Pro Tools”, a well played title. I’ve worked on several of Cory’s Projects over the years. In this show is a piece called “Paganini’s 5th Caprice”. Its hundreds of youtube videos edited together to play one of the hardest classical pieces to perform….

The new Pt. Juncture WA record is out that I mastered in February. Pick it up. It’s really one of their best records, and I believe the third record that I’ve mastered for them. A bunch of new gear. We’ve picked up some nice new gear. Most notably a Manely Vari-Mu and a TK Audio SSL style buss compressor, only cleaner than the original. More of our gear here.
The artist and violinist, Laurie Anderson has release her new record, Homeland. Its a great mix of subtle and not so subtle social commentary, electronics, and great song writing. I worked in her studio from 2006-2008 and was a studio technician for parts of the record. It was almost ten years in the making but worth the wait.
New Studio! I’ve just moved into a new studio. It’s a colaboration with Spaceman Sound It’s a perfect union of gear and some great folks. They’re super talented so hit them for any tracking or mixing.
